The two fighters, in the end, figure out that their friendship is more important than the outcome of the fight. This story is a tale about friendship and finding out your true identity. Before the results are even calculated, the boxers have walked off, friends who do not care about the outcome of the fight. In the end, the main idea of this short story is not based around which fighter wins the bout, it is formed on what happens to the boys relationship. Their different fighting styles symbolize their unique character types, one more rash than the other. The two fighters face the difficult task of trying to maintain their friendship, even though they must compete with each other. They have a fight planned, that both must win in order to move onto bigger and better things. This short story revolves around two amateur boxers who are from the same neighborhood.
